Nature of Work
The part-time Senior Center Aide supports the daily operations of the Guntersville Senior Center by receiving, processing, and serving meals. This position also requires cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen and congregant dining area. Work is performed and reviewing under the general supervision of the Senior Center Director.
Essential Functions
- Receives in meals from vendor; performs temperature checks on meals and packs for home bound delivery.
- Deliver meals to home bound when required.
- Assist in serving congregant meals to patrons at the Center.
- Assist with custodial duties involving general maintenance and cleaning of center to include, but not limited to, cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen, appliances, pans, and utensils, per department protocol.
- Assist with set up and break down for special events held in Center.
- Assist with activities and programs as needed.
- These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive duties. Other duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any given time at the direction of the Senior Center Director. It may be done formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of safe meal preparation and nutritional programs.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and supplies.
- Knowledge of applicable traffic laws, ordinances, and regulations regarding safe vehicle operations.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisor, co-workers, general public, and those in contact with in the course of work.
- Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the citizens utilizing facilities and programs; ability to be helpful, courteous and deal tactfully with the citizens of Guntersville.
- Ability to work a non-standard or flexible schedule.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk constantly. Ability to sit, bend, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, feel, grasp, handle, push, pull, lift and carry at least 25 pounds frequently. Visual acuity at a level to operate motor vehicle occasionally.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must possess a valid Alabama Driver’s License with driving record suitable for insurability.
