2020 Municipal Election Information

2020 Municipal Election for the District 2 Run-Off between Phillip Kelley and Larry Wilson will be held October 6th from 7am – 7pm at the Guntersville Recreation Center. You can request your absentee ballot at 256-571-7560, and those must be requested by October 1st. Only those residents living in District 2 can vote in this run-off election.

Notice of Election

Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday August 25, 2020, an election for the purpose of electing a Mayor and City Council by Districts will be held for the  following offices: 

Mayor At Large

District 1, District 2, District 3, District 4, District 5, District 6, District 7

All registered and qualified electors of the State who have resided within the municipality for at least 30 days prior to the election may participate in said election. 

The Polling Place for electors in District 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and Mayor at Large will be opened at the Guntersville Recreation Center, 1500 Sunset Drive,  Guntersville, AL 7:00 A.M. — 7:00 P.M.  If necessary, a run off election will  be held October 6, 2020. 

Statement of Candidacy forms will be available at Guntersville City Hall at  the office of the City Clerk beginning at 8:00 A.M. on  July 7, 2020 until July 21, 2020 at 5:00 P.M. Any qualified elector desiring to become a candidate in such election must file a duly sworn statement of candidacy and have lived in their  district 60 days prior. The qualifying fee is $50.

July 4th Modified Recycling & Garbage Schedule

The City of Guntersville will be closed on Friday, July 3rd in honor of Independence Day. Recycling this week will be on regular schedule, but garbage will be a day early. Regular Thursday residential garbage service will be picked up on Wednesday and regular Friday garbage service will be picked up on Thursday. Gunter’s Landing pickups should all be on regular schedule.

Guntersville Reservoir Herbicide Treatment Schedule June 29th – July 2nd, 2020

TVA will continue implementation of its Aquatic Plant Management Program on Guntersville Reservoir during the week of June 29th through July 2nd, 2020. This will include areas along residential and commercial shoreline as part of the Lake Guntersville Stakeholder Program as well as developed public access areas. Those areas scheduled for treatment can be found below. Treatments will be made in no particular order and are weather dependent. For a list of areas treated during 2020 as well as treatment area maps, please visit tva.com/aquaticplants under “Aquatic Weeds Treatment Schedule”.

Connors Island Area – Marshall County Park #1 – Day use area along 431

Browns Creek – Guntersville Municipal Park – Swim Beach to Recreation Center, Guntersville Municipal Park – Johnny Stewart Ramp to Kiwanis Fishing Pier, Guntersville Visitors Center

Big Spring Creek – Guntersville City Harbor

Mink Creek – portion ofJ.W Goodwin Subdivision, McLemore Point Subdivision, portion of Lakeview Beach Subdivision, portion of Mink Creek Subdivision, portions of Skyline Shores Subdivision
